Bengaluru IPL Celebrations: Virat Kohli, RCB Teammates Honoured with Mysore Peta in Grand Ceremony

The city of Bengaluru erupted in joy as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) celebrated their historic Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 victory with grandeur and cultural pride. In a heartwarming gesture that merged cricket with Karnataka’s rich heritage, Virat Kohli and his RCB teammates were honoured with the traditional Mysore Peta at a felicitation ceremony attended by thousands of jubilant fans.

Held at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the event was a tribute to RCB’s maiden IPL title win after years of unwavering fan support. The players were welcomed with loud cheers, drum beats, and vibrant performances as they made their way to the stage.

Former captain and franchise legend Virat Kohli, who played a pivotal role throughout the tournament, was at the centre of the celebration. He, along with skipper Faf du Plessis, Mohammed Siraj, Glenn Maxwell, and others, was draped in the Mysore Peta — a symbol of honour and respect in Karnataka’s cultural tradition.

Kohli, visibly emotional, addressed the crowd, saying,

“This moment means everything to us. To win it for RCB, for Bengaluru, and to be honoured in such a beautiful way with the Mysore Peta — it’s beyond special. This city has waited long, and this trophy belongs to each one of you.”

RCB’s journey this season was nothing short of a fairytale. After years of near-misses, the team finally lifted the trophy following a thrilling final against Rajasthan Royals. The celebrations across the state have been electric ever since.

The ceremony also saw performances by local folk artists, dancers, and musicians, highlighting the spirit of Karnataka. The players joined in the festivities, wearing smiles and dancing to the beats of dhols and kannada songs.

Karnataka’s Chief Minister also felicitated the team, praising RCB for making the state proud on the national stage.

“RCB has brought immense pride to Karnataka. Honouring them with the Mysore Peta is our way of saying thank you.”

As the night drew to a close, fireworks lit up the Bengaluru skyline, and chants of “Ee Sala Cup Namde” finally rang true — not as a slogan of hope, but as a statement of victory.

RCB fans can now cherish not just the title, but a memory steeped in tradition, gratitude, and unbreakable bond between a city and its beloved team.
